Thank you for your service and work on the frontline of our world’s hospitals, nursing homes, treatment facilities, clinics as well as on the front line of our emergency and defence forces. I see you and I salute your dedication and service.

I started my career in the Australian healthcare system working in management roles in a tertiary hospital environment for over 8 years. Since then I have been a director in education and for a state regulator before becoming a coach, confidante and consultant to leaders across the globe supporting them to create healthy, vibrant company cultures where people are healed, heard and valued.

What I see everyday is that many front line workers, healthcare workers, teachers, emergency services and armed forces personnel are overwhelmed with priorities and workloads and underwhelmed with support. It’s more important right now than ever to maintain your calm, to build resilience in yourself and your team and to create psychologically safe environments where you feel heard, seen and supported. During a crisis, we need effective leadership more than ever and we need it front the frontline and from leaders with and without title.

Sadly what I’ve seen so much during over 20 years working in these environments in defence, healthcare, private practice and corporations is that people still feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, unable to be heard or influence. Those people who are critical to delivering service, care and support on the frontline and in middle management are in need of support themselves and they aren’t getting it.
