Women Will You Change The World?

The Dalai Lama famously said at the Vancouver Peace Summit in 2009 that “The world willl be saved by the western woman.”

At the same summit in response to a moderator's question about what he sees as priorities in the quest for world peace, the Dalai Lama said:

Some people may call me a feminist...But we need more effort to promote basic human values — human compassion, human affection. And in that respect, females have more sensitivity for others' pain and suffering.

Given the current pandemic has unsettled our sense of certainty and brought forth feelings of fear and doubt, we need these feminine, human values more than ever. They are what make a company's culture psychologically safe, they are what help us compassionately address situations of global poverty, lack of inclusion, pollution and inequality. They are what will help us maintain our relationships during these unprecedented time.

Which is why we need female entrepreneurs, women in business and leading ladies like never before. Sadly there are only seven countries around the world where women are even close to participating in entrepreneurship in parity with men. Successful female entrepreneur Tory Burch, suggests that bringing more women into entreprenurship could increase global income per person by 20% by 2030. 

Women are already starting businesses in large numbers, however because of inequality and barriers to entry their businesses are often smaller, are less likely to have employees, and may struggle to get sufficient capital. Without adequate branding, business, mindset and investing education, women starting businesses may struggle to make their business a success.

As we create more opportunities for women entrepreneurs, and remove barriers to success for women owned businesses that already exist, we are likely to increase the global economy and drive economic success around the world.

No doubt about it, these are strange times. What’s really worth considering right now is that as we travel through the impacts of Covid-19 and importantly begin to rebuild our lives and the economy afterwards, what we will need more than ever is more empowered, financially savvy, business women who can help their families, communities and society at large. 

What this means is this could be the best time now for you to work on your mindset, your brand U brand and your intellectual property for the future, especially if you have to stay home right now.
