The Missing Piece in Leadership & Business Success for Women

There’s something I see in leaders time and time again, and it’s often overlooked. Yet, it’s the thing that determines whether they succeed or struggle. That thing is spiritual alignment.

Now, don’t get nervous - I’m not about to go full woo-woo on you. This isn’t just about spirituality in the traditional sense. It’s about alignment in everything - body, mind, and spirit. It’s about making sure that what you think, say, and do are all working together, not against each other.

Think of it like the body. If something is out of alignment, if your spine is out of place or your circulation isn’t flowing properly, your body starts to struggle. The same happens in leadership and business. When you’re misaligned, you hit roadblocks. Progress is hard. You feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re constantly pushing or fighting against something.

But when you're in alignment, everything flows. Energy moves through you freely, decisions become clearer, and the impact you create becomes bigger.

This is where so many women face challenges when stepping into leadership or starting their own businesses. It’s not just about strategy. It’s about whether everything inside of you is lined up in a way that allows you to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Insights from my recent survey from women in leadership paint a clear picture of the challenges they’re facing:

  • “Balancing my personal values with organisational expectations.”

  • “Lack of access to colleagues with similar aspirations.”

  • “Dealing with other women who are insecure and try and bring you down rather than work together and leverage strengths.”

Yet, despite these challenges, what motivates them to lead is powerful. They find purpose and thrive in:

  • ”Bringing the best out of people”

  • “Sharing my knowledge and skills with the next generation so that they may be able to further improve on what already exists.”

  • ”Witnessing the growth and transformation, both personally and professionally, of our clients and team.”

So what holds them back?

  • “My self-confidence and imposter syndrome often gets in the way.”

  • “Lack of support from like-minded people within my industry. Resistance to change within my organisation.”

  • “Balancing work and family time.”

  • “The concern of not enough money to support myself and my current financial commitments.”

And if those challenges weren’t there? Women say they’d be much more free:

  • “I’d be working on my own in my own business and have flexibility, working with those who I find inspiring.”

  • “I get to live my life experiencing the fullness of my purpose and potential. It would be fulfilling and captivating and even though scary sometimes.”

They’d be in businesses they love, working to their rhythm, feeling more creative, making a bigger impact, and living in alignment with their purpose.

This is why I’m diving deeper into this conversation.

If you’re a professional woman considering starting or who have just started their own business, I’d love your help!

For my next book, I’m conducting research into what allows some women to make the leap and start their own business while others may feel overwhelmed, held back, or not secure enough to take that first step.

Would love you to answer my 5 quick survey questions anonymously here (I’m not collecting names or emails - just input and answers).

I’ll share a summary of answers in future posts - thanks so much in advance!
